California Fresh Carrot Advisory Board

(PESP Partner since November 1997)

The California Fresh Carrot Advisory Board (CAFCAB) is the administrative body established to carry out the intents and purposes of the California Fresh Carrot Research and Promotion Program. In this capacity, CAFCAB administers production research, sales promotion, market development and market research regarding California fresh carrots. The Board acts under the authority of the California Secretary of Food and Agriculture and represents the handlers of the industry. With the consent of the Secretary, CAFCAB has the authority to levy carrot production to finance operations of the Program, with the assessments paid by the handlers, only; there is no assessment on growers. Funds are also provided to University of California researchers, student assistants and research technicians to research IPM strategies, alternative pest control methods and other problems associated with carrot production.
