Griffin Pest Control's 2005 Strategy
Strategic Approach
Focus on IPM, use primarily baits indoors, and liquid pesticides outside. Reduce use of pesticide inside home. Improve application methods to reduce hazards. Emphasize crack and crevice applications.
Progress on 2004 Activity 1
Switch to 3 quarterly exterior services and 1 quarterly interior service.
Completed transition to Quarterly service from Monthly Service. All new sales are Quarterly. Greatly reduced amount of pesticide applied inside homes.
Progress on 2004 Activity 2
Promote termite baiting systems and limited spot treatments with non-repellent liquids. Increase level of termite monitoring.
Primary termite programs are Sentricon and Griffin combination of baiting and perimeter treatments. Reduce typical liquid termite use from 150-300 gallon per structure to 10-50 gallon per structure.
Progress on 2004 Activity 3
Promote IPM and consumer pesticide education on the Griffin website.
Our winter service is exclusively inspection and sealing cracks and crevices. Physical removal of spider webbing has improved customer satisfaction.
Progress on 2004 Activity 4
Provide customer annual IPM report.
Provide each customer with special customize IPM report during winter service outlining conducive conditions and structural defects. Conducted several hundred reports.
Progress on 2004 Activity 5
Reduces use of liquid pyrethroid pesticides inside homes and increase in use of least toxic baits and IGRs.
Hosted MPCA and MDA meeting on changes in IPM laws and regulations at KVCC college. Developed new IPM logbook for daycare centers. Conducted 2 internal seminars on IPM. Did QA inspection of all schools and daycare centers under contract.
Progress on 2004 Activity 6
Reduce the amount of rodenticide used inside of homes. Review rodenticide labels and placement with technicians.
We have switched to emphasizing outdoor use of rodenticide. Many of rodents in home are deer mice coming from outdoors in fall.

Promote safe employee transport, handling and disposal of pesticides.
We have doubled our purchases of gloves and shoe covers in 2004.
