Pesticide News Story: EPA Pesticide Reregistration Continues to Meet Performance Measures
For Release: August 24, 2007
In a Federal Register Notice published on August 22, 2007, EPA announced its progress in meeting the Agency’s performance measures and goals for pesticide reregistration during fiscal year 2006. The Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) requires EPA to publish information about EPA’s annual achievements in this area. This notice discusses the integration of tolerance reassessment with the reregistration process, and describes the status of various regulatory activities associated with reregistration and tolerance reassessment. The notice gives total numbers of chemicals and products reregistered, tolerances reassessed, Data Call-Ins issued, and products registered under the ‘‘fast-track’’ provisions of FIFRA. This notice also contains the Agency’s schedule for completing activities for specific pesticides during fiscal years 2007 through 2008. The Federal Register Notice is available on EPA’s Web site. This and other pesticide reregistration progress reports from previous years are available on EPA’s Web site.
