Pesticide News Story: PPDC PRIA Process Improvement Workgroup to Meet April 29, 2008
For Release: April 18, 2008
On Tuesday, April 29, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs will host the tenth meeting of the Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee (PPDC) PRIA Process Improvement Workgroup. The objective of this workgroup is to identify and evaluate potential reforms to the pesticide registration process. The goal is to reduce the amount of time the Agency takes to process an application under the Pesticide Registration Improvement Renewal Act of 2007 (PRIA 2). The Agency will not compromise the scientific quality of its assessments as a means of reducing decision time review periods. The meeting will be in the lobby level Conference Center of the Potomac Yards building, located at 2777 S. Crystal Drive (One Potomac Yard), Arlington, Virginia. For directions see http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/contacts/officelocation.htm.
An agenda and minutes of previous meetings are posted on the PRIA Process Improvement Workgroup Web site. Agenda topics for the April 29 meeting include:
- Registration Review and Product Reregistration: The Agency will discuss the results of an external review of its product reregistration program
- Updates on PRIA 2 Implementation: Topics include payments, primary/secondary applications and the 21-Day Initial Content Review Screen.
- Updates on Topics from Past Workgroup Meetings: The workgroup will be updated on recent developments and accomplishments in the notifications process, on inerts, product chemistry, labeling, and application in-processing and electronic submission and label review.
PPDC workgroup meetings are open to the public. Public comment is welcome at the conclusion of the meeting. Teleconferencing facilities are available, and arrangements can be made with Elizabeth Leovey (email@example.com), 703-305-7328.
