Pesticide News Story: New Enable the Label Online Discussion Forum Topic: non-cropland issue paper
For Release: October 26, 2011
The EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs has posted an update to Enable the Label, the online discussion forum we use to exchange label-related information and ideas. While topics in Enable the Label have thus far focused on the Label Review Manual, right now we are seeking comments on a non-cropland issue paper the Labeling Consistency Committee recently developed. Pesticide labels have contained the terms “non-cropland” and “non-crop areas” for years but without a clear definition. This can lead to potential human health, environmental and enforcement concerns. The paper up for discussion describes these issues in more detail and outlines several questions for public comment.
After the discussion thread closes on December 31, 2011, we will review comments received. As a reminder, the agency is not asking for general discussions on pesticide policy issues in these discussions focusing on pesticide labeling.
Enable the Label provides informal comment opportunities to everyone interested in improving pesticide labeling, and encourages creative solutions to complex pesticide label challenges in an open and transparent environment.
We invite you to regularly submit your comments and comment on others' ideas at http://blog.epa.gov/enablethelabel/.
