Pesticide News Story: PPDC Workgroup Meeting on PRIA Process Improvement

For Release: September 16, 2011

On Monday, September 26, 2011, EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs will hold a meeting of the Pesticide Registration Improvement Renewal Act (PRIA 2) Process Improvement Workgroup, a subgroup of the agency's Federal Advisory Committee, the PPDC (Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee). The objective of this workgroup is to identify and evaluate potential reforms to the pesticide registration and registration review processes and improve their efficiency and the quality of their assessments.

This meeting will build upon a conversation started during the July 27, 2011, meeting in which the workgroup explored opportunities to enhance stakeholder participation on Endangered Species Act issues during EPA’s registration review program for pesticides. During the July meeting, potential changes to the current registration review and ESA consultation processes were discussed and considered. The upcoming meeting will continue the conversation regarding when to consult during the registration review process and industry’s perspective regarding ESA consultations under the registration review program.

The agenda is available at http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/ppdc/pria/index.html. You may also participate via a teleconference and/or Web conference.
