Pesticide News Story: EPA’s Pesticide Registration Improvement Act Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2012 Now Available
For Release: February 27, 2013
The EPA’s Pesticide Registration Improvement Act Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2012 is now available. Under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, the EPA is required to publish an annual report describing the agency’s implementation of PRIA. The Act authorizes the agency to collect two types of fees from registrants: registration service fees and maintenance fees. It also establishes statutory time frames for completing certain actions.
PRIA established pesticide registration service fees for registration actions to create a more predictable evaluation process for affected pesticide decisions and to promote shorter decision review periods for reduced-risk applications.
The ninth annual report covers Fiscal Year 2012 (October 1, 2011, through September 30, 2012) and provides information on pesticide registration service fees, maintenance fees and process improvements in the pesticide program.
