Preliminary Risk Assessments for Dicrotophos Now Available for Public Comment

For Release: August 1, 2014

EPA has published, for a 60-day comment period, the preliminary human health and ecological risk assessments for dicrotophos. The data we received during the registration review process indicate dietary, worker, and ecological concerns under certain use scenarios. Our analysis is preliminary, and we anticipate further refinement in response to comments received. Dicrotophos is a restricted use organophosphate (OP) insecticide used predominantly on cotton. First registered in 1964, dicrotophos was reregistered and included in the OP Cumulative Assessment in the mid-2000s. EPA will publish a Proposed Registration Review Decision for public comment in early 2015.

To view the preliminary human health and ecological risk assessments for dicrotophos and to comment on the assessments, go docket EPA-HQ-OPP-2008-0440 at www.regulations.gov.
