Pesticide News Story: Carbaryl IRED Available for Comment

On October 27, EPA published a Federal Register notice announcing the availability of the carbaryl IRED, opening a public docket (O.P.-2003-0376), and initiating a 60-day public comment period. EPA will be accepting comments on the Carbaryl IRED until December 27, 2004. Recently, the Carbaryl IRED has been slightly revised to incorporate error corrections, amendments, and clarifications identified after signature. All changes to the IRED document are detailed in an errata memo included in the public docket. The docket also contains pharmacokinetic data recently submitted by the carbaryl registrant to refine risk estimates from residential lawn broadcast applications of carbaryl liquid formulations. These new data will be reviewed by the FIFRA Scientific Advisory Panel on December 2, 2004. For further information on the Carbaryl IRED, please see the Federal Register notice (http://www.epa.gov/fedrgstr/EPA-PEST/2004/October/Day-27/p24038.htm) or the carbaryl entry on the pesticide reregistration status page (http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/reregistration/status.htm).
