Pesticide News Story: EPA Publishes Final Rule Revoking Certain Tolerances for Six Pesticides

For Release: August 5, 2005

On August 3, 2005, EPA published a final rule in the Federal Register revoking certain unnecessary tolerances for alachlor, carbaryl, diazinon, disulfoton, pirimiphos-methyl, and vinclozolin. Some of these tolerances correspond to commodities that either are no longer considered to be significant livestock feed items or have registration restrictions against feeding to livestock. Other tolerances are associated with food registrations that EPA has canceled or for which the Agency has deleted food uses following requests for voluntary cancellation or use deletion by the registrants. The tolerance revocation became effective on August 3, 2005, the date of publication in the Federal Register.

Objections and hearing requests related to this final rule, identified by the docket control number OPP-2005-0183, must be received on or before October 3, 2005. For more information, as well as complete instructions on how to submit objections and hearing requests, please see the Federal Register notice online at http://docket.epa.gov/edkpub/do/EDKStaffCollectionDetailView?objectId=0b0007d480860688.
