Pesticide News Story: EPA Proposes to Revoke Certain Tolerances for Six Pesticides

On March 23, 2005, EPA published a proposal in the Federal Register to revoke certain unnecessary tolerances for alachlor, carbaryl, diazinon, disulfoton, pirimiphos-methyl, and vinclozolin. Some of these specific tolerances correspond to commodities that either are no longer considered to be significant livestock feed items or have registration restrictions against feeding to livestock. Other tolerances are associated with food registrations that EPA canceled or for which the Agency deleted food uses following requests for voluntary cancellation or use deletion by the registrants.

Anyone wishing to comment on this proposal, including requests to continue the tolerances that are subject to revocation, should see the Federal Register notice, entitled Alachlor, Carbaryl, Diazinon, Disulfoton, Pirimiphos-methyl, and Vinclozolin; Proposed Tolerance Revocations at http://www.epa.gov/fedrgstr/EPA-PEST/2005/March/Day-23/p5724.htm. Comments must be received by May 23, 2005. For additional information on this and other pesticides issues, see EPA's Pesticide Program Web site at http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/.
