Precauciones En La Casa Pesticide Safety in the Home
    SFX: Se escucha el radio de pronto Carmelita canta. Carmelita esta trapeando. Se escucha el trapeador en la cubeta. Durante todo el segmento hay sonidos incidentales de lo que Carmelita esta haciendo.
    SFX: You hear the radio, suddenly Carmelita starts singing along. Carmelita is mopping the floor. You can hear the mop go into the bucket. Through out the segment you hear sounds of what Carmelita is doing around the house.
ANNR: Carmelita siempre limpia muy bien, por la salud de sus hijos y de su esposo Manuel que trabaja en la pizca de la fruta muy cerca de su casa.) ANNR: Carmelita always does a good job of cleaning, for the health of her kids and her husband Manuel who works at a fruit orchard close by.
    SFX: Se escucha que tira el agua de la cubeta y corre a cerrar las ventanas...
    SFX: You hear her throw out the dirty water from the bucket and then quickly close the windows.
ANNR: Carmelita sabe que los pesticidas que utilizan en el campo pueden afectar el cuerpo y el cerebro de los niños, por eso siempre que fumigan cierra muy bien las ventanas. ANNR: Carmelita understands that the pesticides used in the fields can affect a child’s body and brain, that’s why every time they spray pesticides she shuts the windows.
    SFX: Se escucha que llega la camioneta de Manuel.
    SFX: You can hear Manuel driving in.
CARMELITA: (Un suspiro) CARMELITA: (sighs)
ANNR: Y cuando llega Manuel de trabajar deja sus botas afuera de la casa y Carmelita le lava la ropa del trabajo separada de toda la demás ropa de la familia. ANNR: And when Manuel gets home from work, he leaves his boots out side of the house. Carmelita washes his work clothes separately from the family’s laundry.
    SFX: Manuel entra.
    SFX: Manuel enters.
MANUEL: Chaparrita, me muero de ganas de abrazarte pero no puedo hasta que me cambie. Me voy a dar un buen baño y ahorita vengo. MANUEL: “Chaparrita” (endearing nickname), I can’t wait to hug you but not until I change. I’ll take a quick shower and be right back.
