This index uses the ASTM classification standard for CRP. ASTM International is a voluntary standards organization. The ASTM classification D3475-11, “Standard Classification of Child-Resistant Packages,” uses a uniform set of terminology to describe various types of child- resistant packaging. The following ASTM(1) Classifications are included in this Guide:

  1. ASTM Type I - Reclosable Packaging Continuous Thread Closure
  2. ASTM Type II - Reclosable Packaging Lug Finish Closure
  3. ASTM Type III - Reclosable Packaging Snap Closure
  4. ASTM Type IV - Unit Non-Reclosable Packaging Flexible (Strip/Pouch)
  5. ASTM Type VII - Aerosol Packages
  6. ASTM Type VIII - Non-Reclosable Packaging Semi-Rigid (Blister)
  7. ASTM Type IX - Dispensers (Not Intended To Be Removed)
  8. ASTM Type X - Box Or Tray Package
  9. ASTM Type XI - Reclosable Packaging Flexible
  10. ASTM Type XIII - Reclosable Packaging Semi-Rigid (Blister)
