On December 29, 2000, the Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT) received two Microbial Commercial Activity Notices (MCANs) from Third Wave Technologies, submitted under the biotechnology regulations promulgated under the Toxic Substances Control Act (62 FR 17910 (April 11, 1997); codified at 40 C.F.R. Part 725). The MCANs were given the EPA tracking designations J-01-0001 and J-01-0002. The recipient microorganism is E. coli BL21. These microorganisms will be used to produce an enzyme which would be used in biomedical research and clinical diagnostics.

For a copy of the nonconfidential version of the MCANs, please contact the TSCA Non Confidential Information Center (NCIC) by phone at 202-566-0280 , or by fax at 202-566-0282.
