Microbial Commercial Activity Notice (MCAN) for modified Pichia poastoris from Kemin Industries, J-12-0001

On December 27, 2011, the Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT) received a Microbial Commercial Activity Notice (MCAN) from Kemin Industries, Inc., submitted under the biotechnology regulations promulgated under the Toxic Substances Control Act (62 FR 17910 (April 11, 1997); codified at 40 C.F.R. Part 725). The MCAN was given the EPA tracking designation J-12-0001. The recipient microorganism was the Pichia pastoris (also known as Komagataella phaffii) strain X-33 and was modified for improved production of the phytase enzyme, for use in the biofuels industry and for animal feed.
