Dibasic Esters (DBEs) Test Results
CAS Nos. Known as dibasic esters (DBEs), dimethyl adipate (DMA, CAS No. 627-93-0).
dimethyl glutarate (DMG, CAS No. 1119-40-0) and dimethyl succinate (DMS,
CAS No. 106-65-0) are component chemicals of solvent mixtures used in
paint stripper formulations that are sold to the general public. All three
DBEs are usually present in commercial paint stripper formulations, although
their relative proportion may vary. Fifteen (15) percent of 1996 DBE sales
in the U.S. were for consumer paint strippers; the remaining DBE sales
were for industrial uses, including use in hand cleaner formulations (about
one percent of sales).
