Automotive Refinishing Findings & Accomplishments

Automotive Refinishing Home | About This Project | Findings & Accomplishments | Publications | Partners The DfE Program, in partnership with the automotive refinishing industry, has identified many protective, efficient, and cost-effective technologies and practices that reduce worker exposure and environmental releases, including: Trainingto increase the efficient use of HVLP spray guns. Increased use of protective gloves and respirators. Improved ventilationin spray booths and paint mixing rooms. Best practices during paint mixing and spraying. Increased knowledge and management of health and safety information. On-site shop visits are a key element of this DfE project. Based on its experience with partner shops in the Philadelphia area, DfE has prepared a Best Practices Kit and a report on Factors that Motivate Owners of Automotive Refinishing Shops to Implement Changes (6 pp, 74K, About PDF), which discusses the primary incentives and obstacles that shop owners face in making improvements in their shops.
