List of Chemicals for Assessment

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is continuing implementation of its Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Work Plan and Action Plan efforts by beginning assessments on 23 chemicals in 2013, including 20 flame retardant chemicals. EPA will conduct full risk assessments on three non-flame retardant chemicals and four flame retardant chemicals, as part of structurally similar groups. See EPA’s Plans for 2013 Assessments and the TSCA Work Plan Chemicals Web page for more information on how the chemicals were identified and the plans for assessment.

Non-Flame Retardant Chemicals

Flame Retardant Chemicals

EPA will conduct reviews on three groups of structurally similar chemicals, conducting full risk assessments on at least one chemical in the group. Below are the groups with the chemicals (including CAS Registry numbers) slated for full risk assessment highlighted in bold.

Data Collection Activities for 8 additional flame retardant chemicals

In addition to the chemicals above slated for risk assessment, EPA will begin data collection activities to better understand the environmental fate of the following 8 flame retardant chemicals (including CAS Registry numbers).
