Project Manager: Keith Cronin (Diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A, Alkyl glycidyl ethers); Robert Jones (Glycidyl methacrylate)

Branch Chief: Frank Kover

Status: Glycidyls are in the Open Season consent order (CO) negotiation program. All required tests have been completed on glycidyl methacrylate (GMA). Testing is underway on the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBPA) and alkyl glycidyl ethers (AGE) that are subject totesting COs. Attachment C for information on voluntary Product Stewardship Program activities relating to these chemicals.

Identification of Chemicals

Glycidol is defined as all chemicals of the general formula:

Glycidol Formula

where R is any alkyl, aryl, or acyl group. R may have any number of substituents (Attachment A). Glycidol derivatives (glycidyl ethers and glycidyl esters) have, by definition, at least one epoxide group. Over 65 substances are in the glycidol category.

In the PRM, the chemical substances are defined to be those belonging to the "category of glycidol and its derivatives" according to the TSCA Section 8(b) Chemical Substance Inventory. These chemicals are referred to as glycidyls.

Announced Receipt of Test Data
