Read the Flexo
CTSA Summary Booklet to gain a better understanding of the
environmental, health, performance, and cost issues associated
with flexo inks.
Use the Flexo CTSA as a resource on ink chemicals. See especially the Executive Summary and Chapter 3: Risk.

Ensure that all workers who handle inks wear appropriate personal
protective gear (e.g., butyl or nitrile gloves and respirators as
needed) to minimize exposure to chemicals. More information on which
gloves to choose for working with specific chemicals can be found
at the National Toxicology
Program website.
Maximize good ventilation, particularly in ink preprooms and pressrooms.
Minimize use of volatile or toxic press-side additions.
Develop an environmental management system.
The Design for the Environment Program has a step-by-step Integrated Environmental Management System Guide and Template
that the ScreenPrinting & Graphic Imaging Association is using
with its members. Let your association know if you'd like to participate
in a sector-based effort.
Support further research on untested and inadequately tested ink
chemicals, especially those predicted to pose risk concerns and
those that are produced in high quantities. Additional information
on some flexo ink chemicals will become available through EPA's High Production Volume Program.
