The inputs and outputs of the product life cycle are quantified and then translated to environmental impact. Results are commonly used to compare the environmental footprint of multiple products which perform the same function. Life cycle impact assessment translates the life cycle inventory to environmental impacts. The elements of life cycle impact assessment will be explored, with a focus on uncertainty and data quality throughout the process.
