Mobile Source Air Toxics - Related EPA Programs

The National Clean Diesel Campaign (NCDC) promotes clean air strategies by working with manufacturers, fleet operators, air quality professionals, environmental and community organizations, and state and local officials to reduce diesel emissions. NCDC encompasses a variety of programs including Smartway, Clean School Bus USA, and the Voluntary Diesel Retrofit Program.
Air toxics programs in the EPA Regions:
- Region 1: New England

- Region 4: Southeast
- Region 6: South Central
- Region 10: Pacific Northwest
EPA’s Office of Research and Development and other organizations such as the Health Effects Institute are conducting studies to evaluate the health effects associated with living near major roads and potential ways to reduce the impact of traffic on air quality.
