It is dedicated to protecting, maintaining and enhancing the viability of fisheries and other aquatic living resources dependent upon healthy estuaries. Dr. Jordan has been President-Elect of the Section since 2001, and organized a symposium on estuaries fisheries at the society's 2002 annual meeting. One of the Section's goals is to recognize distinguished or significant contributions of its members, citizens, and regional organizations through various awards.
