Dr. David L. MacIntosh

Dr. David L. MacIntosh is a Senior Associate with Environmental Health & Engineering, Inc. (EH&E) in Newton, Massachusetts. At EH&E, Dr. MacIntosh provides project management for environmental health and safety issues and is involved in projects with government and legal clients. His expertise includes direct measurements and models of human exposure to hazardous substances through air, surfaces, and food. His major interests include air pollution, pesticides, bioaerosols, volatile organic compounds, heavy metals, aggregate and cumulative exposure assessment, longitudinal and chronic exposure, exposure monitoring, and study design. Dr. MacIntosh received a doctorate of science in environmental health from the Harvard School of Public Health in 1995. He has extensive experience as a researcher and professor. Prior to joining EH&E in May 2002, Dr. MacIntosh was a tenured faculty member in the Department of Environmental Health Science at the University of Georgia. Dr. MacIntosh is a frequent author and speaker on scientific topics relating to human exposure to environmental contaminants. He is a first draft author of a guidance manual on human exposure assessment published by the World Health Organization. Dr. MacIntosh was an ad hoc member of the Federal Insecticide Fungicide and Rodenticide Act Science Advisory Panel (SAP) in 2000 during the SAP review of genetically modified corn. In 2002, Dr. MacIntosh received the Joan Daisey Award for Outstanding Young Investigator from the International Society of Exposure Analysis, a professional organization dedicated to the advancement of human exposure assessment and to which he was elected a Councilor in 2003.
