Below is an alphabetical list of EPA's innovative national programs related to ecological monitoring and disseminating monitoring data to the public.
- Blue Skies/RAIN System - An interactive web-based system that enables land managers, regulators, and the general public to view the potential smoke impacts from burning on forestry or agricultural lands.
- Environmental Monitoring and Assessment
Program - Research program to develop the tools necessary to monitor
and assess the status and trends of national ecological resources. EMAP
aims to advance the science of ecological monitoring and ecological
risk assessment, guide national monitoring with improved scientific
understanding of ecosystem integrity and dynamics, and demonstrate multi-agency
monitoring through large regional projects.
- Environmental Monitoring for
Public Access and Community Tracking (EMPACT) - To work with communities
to make timely, accurate, and understandable environmental information
available to millions of people in the largest metropolitan areas across
the country, so that communities and individuals can make informed,
day- to-day decisions about their lives.
- Regional Vulnerability Assessment Program - An ecological assessment tool that is being developed to identify those ecosystems most vulnerable to being lost or permanently harmed in the next 5 to 25 years and to determine which stressors are likely to cause the greatest risk.
