Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska hosting 2007 GIS User Conference Website - http://www.ccthita-swan.org Call for Presenters Application Regional Science Workshop on Wetlands and the Evaluation of Ecosystem Services in a Watershed Context This workshop will bring together Utah State and Federal agency staff, EPA Regional staff, EPA ORD scientists, and their partners in science to explore how science can be applied to help protect and restore wetlands and the valued ecosystem services that they provide to communities. Cerena Cantrell can be reached at 301-670-4990 or ccantrell@scgcorp.com Impacts of Climate Change on Air Quality in the Pacific Southwest Workshop ORD’s Global Change Research Program is working closely with the Regional Offices and Program Offices to provide timely scientific information to decision makers, resource managers, and other stakeholders that helps them understand and plan for the potential impacts of climate change. As part of this effort, ORD’s Global Program and EPA Region 9 are co-hosting a one-day workshop on the Impacts of Climate Change on Air Quality in the Pacific Southwest (Region 9). Announcement of 8th National Tribal Conference for Environmental Management The Montana/Wyoming Tribal Leaders Council is pleased to announce the 8th National Tribal Conference for Environmental Management. The theme is "Nurturing Mother Earth ... Our People's Destiny" in Billings, Montana June 23-7, 2008. Please refer to the website for updates on the conference: http://www.mtwytlc.com Water Quality Standards Academy Basic Course The "Water Quality Standards Academy" is best known for the "Basic Course." The Basic Course is an introductory course designed for those with fewer than six months experience with water quality standards and criteria programs. However,others may benefit from the course,including veterans of the water quality standards program who want a refresher course. Water quality standards are the cornerstone of state, territory, and tribal water quality standards management programs. The Basic Course is a comprehensive and highly structured course that introduces students to all aspects of the water quality standards program, including the interpretation and application of water quality standards regulation; policies and program guidance; the development of water quality criteria (human health, aquatic life, nutrient, and biological); and other facets of the water program. The 5-day course is aimed at states, territories, tribes, environmental groups, industrial groups, municipalities, the academic community, federal agencies, watershed groups, and other interested parties.
