New funding for tribal and Alaskan village energy projects

The Department of Energy is making up to $13.6 million available to 36 Native American tribes and Alaska villages for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. For more information, visit this web site Exit EPA.

Renewable energy provides reliable, indigenous power, while also helping reduce heating and electricity costs. Energy efficiency and improved weatherization can also help reduce the amount of fuel needed to heat homes, thereby saving energy and money.

  • Eight of the projects will provide weatherization training to Native American tribal members.
  • Seventeen will focus on assessing the feasibility of renewable energy development and energy efficiency deployment on tribal lands and Alaska villages.
  • Eleven will fund the development of renewable energy resources and the deployment of energy efficiency measures on tribal lands and Alaska villages.
