Alabama

Baldwin County
Residents of Fairhope can see Fairhope Household Hazardous Waste FAQs for more information on recycling bulbs in your area.

All other Baldwin County residents can take their used bulbs to the Magnolia Landfill and the Bay Minette Transfer Station. A fee may be assessed for this service and citizens are asked to limit the amount of material brought to the station to 20 gallons per household. For more information please contact J. DeKalb County
DeKalb Recycling Center will accept used bulbs from both businesses and households. For further information contact Max Young at (256) 845-8977.

Madison County
There is a year-round program that accepts CFLs located at Huntsville Landfill, 4100 Leeman Ferry Road, just south of the Leeman Ferry and Johnson Road intersection. The collection center accepts waste on the first Saturday of each month from 8:00 a.m. until noon. If a holiday falls on the Friday before or Monday following that Saturday, the collection will be on the second Saturday of the month. This service is available to city of Huntsville and Madison County residents only. Mobile County
Mobile County usually holds one to two household hazardous waste collection events per year. For dates and more information please contact Bob Haskins at Keep Mobile Beautiful at (251) 478-3333.

Morgan County
Morgan County hosts ChemiCollection, a household hazardous collection event, on the second Saturday of every month at the Decatur City Public Works compound. This event is limited to Morgan County residents only. For further information please contact Emily Johnson at (256) 351-7760.

Florida

Local Government Household Hazardous Waste Collection Programs
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) maintains a list of household hazardous waste collection programs around the state. Some of these programs accept mercury-containing light bulbs from small businesses that are conditionally-exempt small quantity generators (CESQGs). Residents and small businesses can find specific information about their county by selecting from the dropdown menu.

Georgia

Permanent Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility in Athens-Clarke County
Athens-Clarke County (ACC) residents can take fluorescent light bulbs for recycling to the Athens-Clarke Facility, free of charge, on a daily basis. The facility is located at 699 Hancock Way, Athens, Georgia. The hours of operation are 8:00 - 4:00 p.m. Identification is required for drop off. Residents can call to confirm these hours on (706) 613-3512.

In addition, the University of Georgia provides drop-off locations for students and visitors of Athens-Clarke. Look towards the bottom of the ACC web site to find the specific locations.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event in Floyd County
Once a year the Rome/Floyd Recycling Center offers a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day for residents of the City of Rome and of Floyd County.  Residents are encouraged to save their household hazardous wastes for proper disposal on the collection day. Dalton, Georgia: Household Hazardous Waste Collection
The Dalton-Whitfield Landfill sponsors a monthly household hazardous waste collection event that is free of charge to Dalton residents. The event is held every third Saturday of the month from 7:00-2:00 p.m. The facility is located at 4189 Old Dixie Highway. For more information, call (706) 277-2545.

Permanent Facilities

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program in Davidson County
This facility is available to Nashville residents and Davidson County residents only. Residents are not charged a fee and are allowed to bring either 15 gallons or 100 pounds of waste per month. For more information please contact (615) 888-1000.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program of Knox County
