Working Effectively with Tribal Governments Training
The Federal Employee/Workforce Native Education and Training sub-working group, in which EPA participates, has developed the Working Effectively with Tribal Governments online training program. This online training course is designed to provide federal employees with greater knowledge and understanding of American Indian tribes.
The online training consists of three sections:
Introduction to Tribal Concepts - this section teaches about the political status of Indian tribes, tribal sovereignty, government-to-government relationships, and federal trust responsibility.
Federal Indian Law and Policy - this section discusses tribal-federal relations, jurisdiction in Indian country, and federal statutes.
Cultural Orientation - this section contains cultural information that can increase the quality of cross-cultural communications.
