SmartWay Class 8B Average Payload
This chart, based on Carrier Partner data for 2011, shows the average vehicle payload of SmartWay Class 8B truck fleets. The line is made up of individual points, each of which corresponds to a fleet's performance. To preserve confidentiality, no fleet name is associated with any data point. The data represent average payload when loaded, and do not include the vehicle weight or account for empty miles.
While some fleets haul extremely light loads, such as potato chips, and others haul extremely heavy bulk loads, the majority of the data shows Class 8B payloads between 15 and 25 tons. The data include all SmartWay application types that utilize 8B vehicles.
