Description: The Maine Department of Environmental Protection is the State agency responsible for protecting Maine's environment. Our Department consists of the Bureau of Remediation & Waste Management, the Bureau of Air Quality, and the Bureau of Land & Water Quality, in conjunction with the Office of the Commissioner. In Maine, there are two commercial landfills that are currently in the planning and development stage for landfill gas energy projects. Our agency has met with representatives from these facilities to discuss their projects.
