Description: The Santa Cruz County, Rio Rico Landfill (RRLF) is a 250 ton per day facility with more than 1 million tons in place. The LFG collection system is made up of 13 perimeter wells and 2 interior wells placed in solid waste connected to a flare station. Currently, the RRLF is producing an average of 408 cfm per day, with 20% methane at the flare station. However, 5 of the 13 perimeter vertical extraction wells are maintaining a value greater than 40% methane. Santa Cruz County has begun the formal feasibility study process to determine the viability of its LFG energy project. This process will be completed by November 30, 2009.
