- TIAX LLC is a technology processing and commercialization company. They transform emerging innovations into technology platforms ready for hand off to industry for scaled-up production. To help capture new growth opportunities in biogas-to-electricity, TIAX developed BioHALO, a system of ICE-based biogas conversion technologies that use Hydrogen Assisted Lean Operation to achieve ultra-low emissions (X/MWh) with high efficiency (34-38% LHV) and low cost. BioHALO shifts the operating point of biogas engines to ultra-low NOX regimes not otherwise feasible. BioHALO eliminates the need for after-treatment emissions control systems (e.g., three-way catalyst), which can be costly and subject to poisoning by impurities typically found in biogas (e.g., siloxanes). Additionally, BioHALO is durable, easily scalable, fuel flexible, and self-sufficient. They are currently seeking partners to field test BioHALO at an appropriate landfill host site.
