1) EPA Announces New Method For Measuring Mercury In Water

EPA has promulgated a new, additional test method for mercury, a key action under the Clean Water Action Plan. The new method can detect mercury below one part-per-trillion and is the most sensitive analytical method approved under the Clean Water Act for the analysis of mercury *approximately 200 times more sensitive than currently approved methods. The new method is needed to determine compliance with the Great Lakes Water Quality Guidance and the National Toxics Rule and responds to requests from several states for a more sensitive test method.
