1) Assistant Administrator Testifies on Water Infrastructure 1) Assistant Administrator Testifies on Water InfrastructureOn June 22, Assistant Administrator J. Charles Fox testified before the House Subcommittee on Water Resources and the Environment of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. The Assistant Administrator discussed the Nation's investment in facilities to reduce water pollution and protect the environment and human health. He also commented on several legislative proposals addressing clean water infrastructure, including water pollution resulting from wet weather.

Each 2-day conference will focus around key issues in beach water monitoring and public notification of beach advisories and closings. Topics will include microbial indicators of water quality, water quality standards, water quality monitoring and modeling, beach advisories and closings, and risk assessment and communication. The conferences will be held in San Diego, California on August 31- September 1, 1999, and in Tampa, Florida on October 18-19, 1999.
