1) Contaminated Sediment Workshop, April 24-25, Ann Arbor, MI

EPA, Environment Canada, and the Great Lakes Commission are sponsoring a workshop entitled Treating Great Lakes Contaminated Sediment: A Workshop on Sediment Treatment Technologies. The workshop will provide practical information for reducing the threats to human health and the environment posed by the presence of contaminants in aquatic food chains. It is geared for anyone interested in sediment treatment technologies, including industry, trade associations, environmental groups, and government agencies. The workshop will include presentations of six different treatment technologies, case studies on the effectiveness of bioremediation, examples of regional approaches incorporating treatment as part of an overall remediation program, and panel discussions on how to overcome barriers to the implementation of treatment. For more information on the workshop, please contact Marc Tuchman at EPA's Great Lakes National Program Office, at tuchman.marc@epa.gov.
