EPA Activities and Programs Relating to the Ocean Commission Reports

EPA has many activities underway that reflect commission findings and recommendations. The Agency places a priority on implementing the President´s executive order on the Great Lakes, chairing a cabinet-level task force to bring an unprecedented level of collaboration and coordination that will accelerate protection and restoration of this national and international treasure. EPA is actively responding to point and nonpoint sources of pollution through numerous regulatory and nonregulatory programs, such as those that pertain to wastewater treatment plants, agriculture, land development, and urban settings. EPA also places a priority on coastal waters through its Targeted Watershed Grants Program and its water quality trading policy, both of which accelerate cleanup of impaired waters through innovative partnerships and market-based approaches.
