OWOW Participation in Inter-Agency/International Invasive Species Activities

Aside from working internally on invasive species programs, EPA and the Office of Water collaborate with other Federal Agencies and international organizations to tackle invasive species issues on a large scale. The following list provides additional information on several of the interagency and international activities in which OWOW is involved:

  • Represent EPA on the Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force. Exit EPA Disclaimer

  • Develop regulations and standards for discharge of ballast water from military ships of the U.S. Government under the Uniform National Discharge Standards program.

  • Participate in the Interagency Working Group developing the United States position on negotiating an international ballast water control agreement in the Marine Environmental Protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization. Exit EPA Disclaimer
