Narrator: There’s a new Harris Teeter grocery store in Charlotte and it’s focused on going green. The store opened at The Shoppes at Ardrey Kell and you can purchase items like reusable bags and energy efficient lighting. What makes the store different from any other is the new refrigeration system. It ensures that any potential leak of a greenhouse gas is less than 1%. Dawn Reeves (Harris Teeter): I think Harris Teeter has definitely proven that they can be a leader in environmental sustainability when it comes to refrigeration. We challenge other supermarkets to come into line with this system, which is clearly great for the environment, great for the ozone layer, and good for air emissions in the country. Narrator: Harris Teeter has more than 30 stores with energy star certification and hopes to have 60 certified stores by the end of 2008.
