Water Use National Challenge Goal
Water Use
EPA's Office of Water is offering a Water Use Reduction challenge. In order to receive credit for the challenge goal, the facility must commit to reducing its water use by at least 15 percent on a normalized basis over the three years of its membership. EPA's Office of Water website offers some water reduction ideas.
Facilities wishing to make this challenge goal should select Water Use as the category and Total Water Used as the indicator in the Performance Track application. The facility must commit to reducing its water use by at least 15 percent after normalizing (i.e., check "Normalized Goal" in Question 5 of the application). The "Future" quantity of water use in line 4c must be at least 15 percent less than the "Baseline" quantity. (The goal is made assuming a baseline year level of production. The facility will make normalization corrections in future annual performance reports.)
