Akzo Nobel Aerospace Coatings, Inc. (ANAC), based in Waukegan, Illinois, is a world leader in the manufacture of specialty paints, coatings, and resins for use in aerospace applications. Since December 2000, ANAC has been a proud charter member of Performance Track.

"We joined the Performance Track program to demonstrate our commitment to the environment and to our exceptional achievement when it comes to compliance with health, safety, and environmental issues," says Hugh Flack, Jr., Director of Health, Safety, and Environment at ANAC.

Reducing VOC emissions and minimizing the use of pigments containing heavy metals in its product line are among ANAC's environmental commitments under Performance Track. To achieve these goals, ANAC continues to formulate coatings with low VOC-content and conducts research on water-based formulas. To reduce pigments containing heavy metals, ANAC is investing heavily in R& D to develop an alternative formula for airplane coatings using substitutes for chrome.
