Changes in Web Review Responsibilities

During the past few years, EPA Web site's look and feel have significantly improved. The Web Content and Infrastructure Coordinators ensure the site meets requirements for usability, accessibility, and best design practices while the Web Council provides a forum for coordinating across programs. The result of this good work is that regions and programs now have the tools to oversee their own Web materials, and the need for OPA headquarter's review has been reduced.
Beginning February 1, 2008, Regional Public Affairs Directors and headquarters Communication Directors, not OPA headquarters, will be responsible for these two items:
- Reviewing region/program's draft Web materials, including supporting materials for news releases, and
- Coordinating news release links with headquarters Office of Media Relations and regions.
OPA headquarters will continue to work closely with the regions and programs on all other aspects of Web concept, development and review as well as training and Web site promotion. And as I mentioned a few weeks ago, we also want to work with you on any new Web 2.0 projects.
This is an exciting time for EPA's Web site and I appreciate the work each of you do to make our Web communication with the public as effective and informative as is possible.
Thanks,
Lisa
