What can I do?

At first glance, protecting habitat for species of concern is overwhelming, but each of us can do something that's good for wildlife but also for our families, our health and the beautiful region we live in.

For Businesses

The following links may provide helpful information and, with the exception of EPA Region 10, are located outside the EPA.gov domain.

  • Develop Community Partnerships: Work with local policy makers and political leaders on housing costs, transportation and urban design. All of these issues influence the encroachment of development onto land that should be left intact.
  • Use Natural Landscaping and Low Impact Development: Work with landscape suppliers that use organic landscaping techniques and compost supplements. Create beautiful and functional landscapes that help slow polluted runoff and attract wildlife. Visit the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife: Landscaping for Wildlife, Audubon: Washington and Puget Sound Action Team for more information.
