2009 National Radon Action Month Activities by Category

Each activity and event submitted to EPA is categorized to help organizers quickly see trends and identify success from year to year. Many activities conducted, included signed proclamations, published press releases, and radon education and awareness-building programs, have the potential to substantially increase radon awareness and have far-reaching results that save lives. EPA encouraged everyone to hold a variety of activities with the aim of reaching out to all key stakeholder groups and the general public.

2009 Participation Exceeds Previous Year's Results

The 2009 National Radon Action Month ended with a total of 1,874 activities and events reported, more than double the number reported for the 2008 National Radon Action Month.

Thanks to all stakeholders who raised radon awareness and made the 2009 National Radon Action Month a success. Local groups and organizations from 29 states and 10 regions conducted activities and events. The growing number of activities across the country from year to year indicates that more people are learning how to reduce their exposure to radon. EPA is no longer accepting activities for 2009 National Radon Action Month, but we encourage you to spread the radon message year-round. We will begin collecting activities for the 2010 National Radon Action Month in Fall of 2009.
