This schedule authorizes the disposition of the record copy in any media (media neutral), excluding any records already in electronic form. Records designated for permanent retention must be transferred to the National Archives in accordance with NARA standards at the time of transfer.

Description:
Contains reports generated and received throughout the budget process, including computer printouts, spreadsheets, and copies of the Agency budget submitted to the Administrator, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and the President. Also includes periodic reports on the status of appropriation accounts and apportionment and documents authorizing new or revised budget allowances to Agency programs.

Guidance:
Records covered by this schedule are held in budget offices. They are created and received in the course of developing Office-level budgets which are then submitted for inclusion in the Agency-wide budget. The annual reports are used throughout the budget year to respond to Congressional and public inquiries, administer the program budgets as intended, and provide background information for formulating subsequent years' budgets.
Any report created or received in the course of formulating an annual budget can be considered an annual report and covered under item a of this schedule.
Budget formulation, development and execution documents held by budget offices are covered by EPA 591 - Budget Background Records. Copies of budget records held in program offices for submission to budget offices are covered by EPA 110 - Office Administrative Files.
EPA 592 for Resource Requirements Reports and EPA 594 for Allowance Books are superseded by item b of this schedule.
Reasons for Disposition:
Conforms to NARA General Records Schedule 5, item 3.
Item c for electronic mail and word processing copies was deleted 08/15/2006 pursuant to NARA Bulletin 2006-04.
