NARA Disposal Authority:
This schedule authorizes the disposition of the record copy in any media (media neutral), excluding any records already in electronic form. Records designated for permanent retention must be transferred to the National Archives in accordance with NARA standards at the time of transfer.
- General Records Schedule 20/5
Electronic files consisting solely of records extracted from a single master file or database that is disposable under NARA's General Records Schedule 20 or approved for deletion by an approved Agency records schedule.
Excludes: Extracts that are produced as disclosure-free files to allow public access to the data or produced by an extraction process which changes the informational content of the source master file or database; which may not be destroyed before securing NARA approval.

Delete when it is determined that they are no longer needed for administrative, legal, audit, or other operational purposes
May be used for mainframe, LAN or PC-based systems. This item can be used to dispose of extracts used for ad hoc analysis or report production.
Records consisting of extracted information created from a master file or database that is unscheduled or that was scheduled as permanent but no longer exists or can no longer be accessed may not be destroyed before securing NARA approval.
Specific schedules have been developed for many Agency systems (e.g., EPA 050 - CERCLIS). In other cases, systems are included as part of general system schedules such as EPA 063 for electronic models and expert systems.
Other schedules for segments or phases of information systems include: EPA 160 for downloaded and copied data; EPA 161 for system backups and tape library records; EPA 170 for files and records relating to creation, use and maintenance of computer systems, applications, and electronic records; EPA 171 for input and source records; EPA 173 for data files consisting of summarized information; EPA 175 for print files; EPA 176 for technical reformat files; and EPA 177 for security backups.
