NARA Disposal Authority:

This schedule authorizes the disposition of the record copy in any media (media neutral), excluding any records already in electronic form. Records designated for permanent retention must be transferred to the National Archives in accordance with NARA standards at the time of transfer.

Description:

Electronic files consisting of data copied from a complete or partial master file or data base made for the specific purpose of information interchange and written with varying technical specifications.

Excludes: Files created for transfer to the National Archives.

Guidance:

May be used for mainframe, LAN, or PC-based systems and covers information transferred to such external systems as Internet.
