Fischer & Porter - Public Notice July 1997

EPA Issues the Proposed Remedial Action Plan for the Fischer & Porter Superfund Site

Public Meeting

Thursday, July 30
7:00 p.m.
Warminster Heights Home Ownership Association Center
75 Downey Drive
Warminster, PA

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued the Proposed Remedial Action Plan (Proposed Plan) for the Fischer & Porter Superfund Site located in Warminster, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

The Proposed Plan is the result of EPA's evaluation of the site's groundwater and soil contamination and, also, of the groundwater treatment that has occurred at the site since 1987. During the evaluation, EPA found that contamination remains onsite below the surface and some contaminants are still leaving the property in the groundwater. However, the extraction wells operated by Fischer & Porter and the Warminster Heights Home Ownership Association are successfully capturing the contaminated groundwater and treating it so that it meets all drinking water standards. Therefore, EPA is proposing that additional groundwater treatment facilities are unnecessary. In the Proposed Plan, EPA recommends the "No Further Action" alternative.

EPA invites local residents to ask questions and express their concerns about the Proposed Plan at a public meeting.

In addition, the public may also comment on the Proposed Plan during the public comment period by writing to one of the EPA representatives listed in this notice. The public comment period will begin on July 17, 1998 and end on August 17, 1998.

The public can review the Proposed Plan as well as other site-related documents at the Information Repository that EPA has established for the Fischer & Porter Superfund Site.
