There is no current or planned EPA activity concerning at this Site.
Site Description
The Concept Sciences Site was a new company who manufactured hydroxylamine. On February 19, 1999, a powerful explosion occurred at the Site which killed five individuals. EPA's Removal Program provided site safety support to PADEP during the immediate response and conducted an accident investigation thereafter. EPA also provided various forms of support to local, state, and other investigating federal agencies.

The contaminants at the Site primarily included hydroxylamine, hydroxylamine sulfate, and potassium hydroxide, all of which are corrosive materials.
Cleanup Progress
The Pennsylvania DEP initiated cleanup actions after negotiations with the potentially repsonsible parties failed. EPA is not involved in the cleanup at this time.
