Douglassville Disposal

Former oil reclaimer, operated from 1938-1985. Site is about 50 acres, including 3 acre tank farm, 15 acres of old sludge lagoons and a 2 acre pile of filter cake. Contaminants included lead, PCBs, PAHs and VOCs in an oily matrix. Air, groundwater, and soil were all affected. Risks included direct contact, inhalation, ingestion and fire/expolosion.

Main tank farm cleanup took place March 1990-Nov. 1991. Tanks were cut apart and cleaned, the metal recycled. Tank wastes and soil were drummed and sent to APTUS in KS. Cost=$11.6M
